RULES TO PROTECT MYSELF AGAINST HIV/AIDS

There are rules that can help us keep safe everywhere we go. These rules include things to remember when dealing with or touching blood. One of the most important rules says that we should imagine that all people around us are HIV-positive.

HOW CAN I HELP SOMEONE WHO HAS HURT HIMSELF/HERLSELF AND IS BLEEDING?

  • Ask the person to cover the wound with a clean tissue or cloth
  • Call the teacher or an adult to help
  • People who are helping should wear gloves or cover their hands with something like a plastic bag
  • Wash the wound with clean water
  • Cover the wound with a plaster or a clean bandage
  • Throw tissues and cloths with blood into a dustbin
  • Wash spilt blood with water and household bleach
  • Wash your hands with soap and water
